In memory of Warnie H. Bigelow
All four gospels record Jesus' wrongful arrest in Gethsemane, Immediately before his arrest he. was in the garden praying and sweating drops of blood as he prayed "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."
Born in Dawson, Georgia on September 22, 1906 to John B Henry Bigelow and Berdie Bell Amerson Bigelow, Warnie H. Bigelow was the eldest of six children The family relocated to Montgomery, Alabama where he received his education in Montgomery Public Schools Mr. Bigelow began working with the F.S, Royster Guano Company in 1925. He married Estelle Bell on December 24, 1929 and their son, Walter Hill, was born September 22, 1930. After being laid off from Royster in June 1931 due to the depression, he returned in September 1933. During this time a daughter, Juanita, was born on October 10, 1932. Mr. Bigelow was Assistant Superintendent of a Royster facility in Jackson, Mississippi, Superintendent at their Lynchburg, Virginia plant and later in Lyons, New York. While in Lyons, he was elected to become a member of Masonic Humanity Lodge 406 F & AM in February 1957. That same year, Royster named him Superintendent of a new facility in Piqua, Ohio where he remained until his retirement on January 1, 1972. The Bigelows moved to Atmore in September 1973 to be near a relative and they joined First Presbyterian Church on August 20, 1975. Mr. Bigelow died on June 11, 1980 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Mrs. Bigelow gave this window in her husband’s memory. Because of declining health, she moved to Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama in 1987. She lived there until her death in the summer of 1992. The Bigelows are survived by their son, Walter of Dayton, OH; their daughter, Juanita (Nita) Smith of Charlotte, NC and two grandchildren, Ellen Garrison (Donald) and Kathleen Paeltz.
