Presented by friends of Alfred Pellar Webb, Jr.
John the Baptist said when Jesus came for his baptism: Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." Jesus is the sacrificial lamb who took all our sin and guilt on himself and thus becomes the worthy lamb of Revelation who rules and reigns.
This window was given as memorials by friends of Alfred Pellar Webb, Jr. It had long been Mr. Webb’s dream for the church to have stained glass windows so this is a fitting memorial. In 1929, Mr. Webb joined the business his father was instrumental in founding, The Atmore Hardware Company, Inc. He served as president/owner of the area’s oldest business until his death Mr. Webb was a good citizen of Atmore, belonging to a number of civic organizations and being active in his church. He was a member of the Atmore Lions Club and he served as president of that organization. From 1961-1973, he served on the Escambia County Hospital Board, serving as chairman for a time. He was reared in First Baptist Church and was a dedicated and active member. He also was in leadership roles in the Atmore Chamber of Commerce and the Atmore Country Club. In 1988 in honor of Mr. Webb and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lackey, Mrs. Webb donated a trust fund of $110,272 to build the Webb-Lackey Emergency Treatment Center in the out-patient wing of what is now Atmore Community Hospital. An excerpt from a devotional written by him says, “Dependability, like loyalty, is an acquired trait. It isn’t so much what a man knows that counts, but what he can be depend- ed on to do with his knowledge. The world has always paid rich rewards for genuine depend- ability. It is an unalterable law. True Christian character and dependability go hand in hand for it is one of the traits of a Christian.” These words are a good description of Alfred Pellar Webb, Jr.
